Dear All,
Please be advised industrial action in Spanish Ports has been withdrawn for today 30th June and next week’s planned strikes have also been cancelled for 3rd, 4th,6th and 7th of July.
The relevant parties ( Anesco and the Dockers Union) have agreed to continue negotiations without strike action being taken, however heavy congestion does still remain in the Port of Bilbao.
MacAndrews will continue to closely monitor productivity levels on a regular basis. We apologise for any inconvenience these delays and additional costs are having on your business. Further updates will be issued as and when more information is received
22nd June 2017 16:30 Update
Dear All
Further to the recent industrial action in the Spanish Ports we have been advised that the Bilbao Stevedoring Union have unilaterally agreed to withdraw the strikes planned for the following days:
June – 23rd, 26th, 27th
Further strikes planned for the odd hours of the following dates remain in place but we are hopeful that a resolution will be found before they are enforced.
June – 29th, 30th
July – 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th
Unfortunately the Port of Bilbao remains congested but vessels are being worked albeit with delays.
We apologise for any inconvenience these delays and additional costs are having on your business.

16th June 2017 16:30 Update
Further to the recent industrial action in the Spanish Ports we regret to advise that we have received official notification of further strikes during the odd hours of the following days:
June – 19th, 21st, 23rd, 26th, 27th, 29th, 30th
July – 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th
During the recent period of unrest MacAndrews vessels have been operating in the Port of Bilbao albeit with delayed operations and extended voyage times resulting in considerable additional costs. MacAndrews will continue to operate services into and out of the Port of Bilbao during this next period of strikes however we expect disruption and delays to all services to continue.
Current delays to MacAndrews services as follows:-
CMA CGM Goya ES7739 (BIO-TIL-RTM-BIO) – Delayed 1 day
Endeavour ES7707 (BIO-LIV-BIO) – Delayed 5 days
Aries J ES7759 (BIO-BRS-LIV-GRK) – Delayed 5 days
Phillip ES7764 (BIO-DUB-LIV) – Delayed 3 days
Enforcer SB0278 (BIO-TIL-HLS-GDY-TIL -BIO) – Delayed 2 days
We remain hopeful that talks will continue between stevedores, stevedoring companies, associations and Government in order to reach agreement before intended strike periods are enforced.

06th June 2017 10:30am Update
Strike action in Bilbao is set to continue during the odd hours on June 7th and June 9th .
Whilst there is limited productivity every other hour this still means all services into and out of Bilbao are subject to congestion and delay.
Regretfully we have also been informed a new series of strikes have been presented for the following dates, again striking during the odd hours of:-
14th/15 June – 48 hour strike
19th June
21st June
23rd June
MacAndrews will continue to operate our services into and out of Spain during this period, however disruption is expected, therefore we apologise for any inconvenience caused
We remain hopeful that talks will continue between stevedores, stevedoring companies, associations and Government in order to reach agreement before intended strike periods are enforced.

We regret to advise that we have received official notification that the sequence of strikes during the odd hours of the following days will go ahead as previously announced:
June – 5th / 7th / 9th

25th May 2017 15:00 Update
Please be advised that MacAndrews have received confirmation that the stevedores unions will now cancel the below planned strikes:
May – 24th / 26th / 29th / 31st & June – 2nd
At present the below strikes are still planned to go ahead during the odd hours of the following days:
June – 5th / 7th / 9th
Negotiations will continue between stevedores, stevedore companies, associations and Government in order to reach agreement before the above intended strike periods are enforced.
Congestion continues to be an issue in Bilbao. MacAndrews continues to monitor the on-going situation and will keep you advised.

15th May 2017 16:00 Update
Please be advised that on Friday 12th May 2017 the Spanish Council of Ministers approved the Royal Decree to reform the Spanish Ports Act in accordance with European Union regulations. This is expected to be validated by the Spanish Parliament on 18th May 2017.
Subsequently the stevedores unions in Spain have announced a sequence of strikes during the odd hours of the following days:
May – 24th / 26th / 29th / 31st
June – 2nd / 5th / 7th / 9th
Whilst MacAndrews will continue to operate services into and out of Spanish ports during this period we expect disruption and delays to all services and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Negotiations are continuing between stevedores, stevedoring companies, associations and Government in order to reach agreement before intended strike periods are enforced.
With above in mind, we wish to advise that the congestion surcharge currently in place for all cargo loaded into/out of Bilbao will continue to be implemented until further notice.

MacAndrews will send a further update on 19/5/2017 whereby we hope to advise whether all parties involved have reached an agreement to avert the strike action.

16th March 2017 15:00 Update
Spanish Port Dispute
We have been advised the advertised strikes on 17th, 20th, 22nd and 24th March 2017 in the Port of Bilbao have been suspended.
Whilst strikes have been postponed, congestion and slow productivity still remain in the port and expect to remain so during this period of industrial uncertainty.
Discussions still continue with all parties and the situation remains fluid.

09th March 2017 13:00 Update
Spanish Port Dispute
We have been advised that the strike has been cancelled for next Friday 10th, Monday 13th and Wednesday 15th March.
The planned strike actions on 17th, 20th, 22nd and 24th March are maintained for the moment.
Discussions continue to take place with all parties next week.

03rd March 2017 12:00 Update
We have been advised that the strike has been cancelled for next Monday 6th and Wednesday 8th March.
We are waiting for more information regarding the advertised strike on Friday 10th onwards, but there seems to be indications that this may also be cancelled as well.
Discussions continue to take place with all the parties.

02nd March 2017 12:00 Update
We regret to inform that labour disputes in Spanish ports have escalated in recent weeks as a consequence of the Government plans to reform the Spanish Ports Act in accordance with European Union regulations.
Unfortunately stevedores unions in Spain have announced a sequence of strikes during the odd hours of the following days:
- March 6th/8th/10th/13th/15th/17th/20th/22nd/24th
Whilst MacAndrews will continue to operate services into and out of Spanish ports during this period, we expect disruption to all services and additional costs associated. MacAndrews reserves the right to implement a surcharge at short notice.
The situation remains fluid and your local MacAndrews contacts will continue to keep you appraised as situation evolves.

16th February 2017 12:00 Update
MacAndrews have received an official update that the Spanish Government has opened up a three way discussion with the Unions and Anesco.
The planned strike action of next week has been suspended to enable negotiations to take place.
This ongoing action is having a detrimental effect on our schedule and has caused lost voyages which may have created disruption to your supply chains.
We hope the suspended strikes will mean a return to normal operations in Bilbao with productivity improvements and a return to schedule integrity.
MacAndrews will continue to keep you informed of developments and apologises for the ongoing disruptions due to Dockers action beyond our control.
07th February 2017 17:00 Update
MacAndrews have received an official update that scheduled strikes will take place at all Spanish ports during the following periods:
- February 20th, 22nd and 24th
The official notice stipulates that the stevedores will be working one hour on and one hour off on the above dates. We do expect our vessels to be worked in Bilbao but operations will be slower than normal.
MacAndrews will be doing everything in order to minimise any disruption to customers.

Please be advised MacAndrews is currently experiencing delays to our services in and out of Bilbao due to unofficial ongoing National Industrial action; the background to this low productivity is due to the ruling of the Spanish Port Law Reform.
MacAndrews is doing all we can to limit the disruption to our customers supply chain and will revert when we receive any further information.
