MacAndrews and OPDR launch POSS, their first joint service between North Europe and the Iberian Peninsula.

MacAndrews, the door-to-door intermodal specialist in Europe and OPDR, the Short Sea specialist in Europe, each 100% owned by CMA CGM, jointly launched a new maritime service between North Europe and the Iberian Peninsula on November 17, 2015.

This new weekly service called POSS (Portugal & South Spain) fully serves the ports of Tilbury, Dunkirk, Rotterdam, Leixoes, Setubal, Lisbon, Algeciras and Cartagena.

The MacAndrews Loop 3  of the service is designed to offer customers a lean and fast logistics product with fast connections from and to Portuguese ports, with 3 weekly departures to/from Portugal.

The benefits of this service:-

• 3rd fixed day sailing ex-Portugal to the UK and a 2nd weekly sailing to France and the Netherlands;
• Ideal supply chain transit for Reefers and dry cargo requiring deliveries in the UK on Monday;
• Improved transit times and enhanced links with Scandinavia, NWC, Russia and Baltic States;
• Additional capacity as per market requirements

It is the first joint service between MacAndrews and OPDR, for which 3 container ships of 700 TEUs will operate on short distances.

“The combined MacAndrews and OPDR footprint in Iberia consolidates our position as the largest Iberia centric Inter European container carrier. The new POSS service marks the beginning of a concrete co-operation between us, growing the business for the Group through increased service frequency to compete with our main competitors overland trucks” comments Geoffrey Smith, MacAndrews’ Chief Executive Officer.

“I am very pleased that this first joint service of MacAndrews and OPDR has now started and both are looking forward to further deepening their collaboration” adds Till Ole Barrelet, Chief Executive Officer of the OPDR Group and Chief Operational Officer of MacAndrews.
