Thursday the 13th of July was a momentous day for Geoffrey Smith and MacAndrews and Company Ltd.

Geoffrey Smith, CEO of MacAndrews, celebrated 50 years with MacAndrews.

For this occasion, the MacAndrews London offic e organised a surprise gathering in his honour, including a MacAndrews cake and an engraved decanter and glasses. All London office staff, some Liverpool office representatives, plus his wife and children, were gathered to share this emotional and important moment.

Born in South-East London, Geoffrey joined United Baltic Corporation the then owners of MacAndrews in 1967.

Starting from low beginning but with a strong personal drive, Geoffrey has been the driving force behind MacAndrews and has shaped the business into the true multi modal short sea shipping company it is today. For the past 15 years since becoming part of the CMA CGM group the company has continue to grow and develop under his ever watchful eye. Today together with our short sea partners in OPDR and CMA CGM short sea lines we are building a great future ensuring MacAndrews OPDR becomes an even stronger presence in Europe. Geoffrey continues as always in the front of the action to guide and inspire.

Hugh Burnage, CFO, spoke thanking Geoffrey for all the years of collaboration and for his continuing commitment.

“MacAndrews is Geoffrey Smith, and Geoffrey Smith is MacAndrews. MacAndrews would not be the same without you” – Hugh Burnage.

Finally, with a voice full of emotion Geoffrey took the floor to thank everyone and to share some anecdotes about his experience from when he was aged 15 picking up the ships bag up to today as CEO.

Congratulations to Geoffrey and thank you for your passion and commitment.
